“I knew about the sprain because it hurt at first. Unfortunately I just went on to PT because I didn’t realize how bad I was injured and that caused some kind of arthritis in the hip.

“So also with the other one, to compensate for the bad one, I ended up having to have them both done.

And it’s not a matter of saying, “oh, how do I handle it?” I’m from Texas! – you just act on it.

‘There are no options. And then I was in so much pain. I’m so thankful that the technology is here now.

“I went in at 8, they did it at 11. I got up and they let me walk at four. I went home at 7 o’clock. You just handle it.

‘And then I started physiotherapy and now I walk a lot and that is very good therapy.

“So you keep discovering new things, you keep exploring things.

“I’m a science nerd, so I keep researching things and I look for ways to stay sane. The older you get, the more you realize how easy it is for one bad thing to ruin your life. A lot of it is trying to stay on top of what not to do and be healthy.”

She believes it did her good to resist temptation during her younger years in show business.

She said, “You see a lot of bad aging in Hollywood and I’ve always tried to live really clean. So that helps. I didn’t drink, smoke or use drugs. When you’re younger you just do it because you think it’s a good idea. But when you’re older, you see other people and say I’m glad I didn’t. A lot of that hard partying ages you a lot.

‘I’m just so boring. It’s also all about a good diet.

I grew up in Texas, so if I continued to eat like I did with anything fried, it would be a whole different story. Part of that is educating yourself about nutrition and different therapies.’

Fairchild has already returned to work appearing in a new TV series, I’m a Virgo with Walton Goggins, and is planning a show in the fall.
