Freud’s Last Session FIRST LOOK: Sir Anthony Hopkins plays neurologist Sigmund on Ireland film set
Sir Anthony Hopkins transformed into Sigmund Freud when he was first seen filming his upcoming film, Freud’s Last Session.
The actor, 85, was dressed in a khaki coat and brown trilby hat when he joined 30 extras on the Irish film set last month.
Donning Freud’s trademark round glasses, he was joined by former Downton Abbey star Matthew Goode, 45, who plays Narnia author CS Lewis.
The leading men were seen walking into a church wearing gas masks.
It is thought that the pair will discuss the existence of God in the final years of the Doctor’s life on the brink of World War II.

Based on Mark St. Germain’s critically acclaimed 2010 play of ideas, the exciting new film was shot at Ardmore Studios in Bray, Co. Wicklow.

Anthony may be 84, but he shows no signs of slowing down.
He recently joined the cast of the Peacock series Those About To Die, based on the book that inspired the 2000 film Gladiator.
The Oscar winner will play Emperor Vespasian in the epic period drama from German director Roland Emmerich, 67, according to deadline.
The series is inspired by Daniel P. Mannix’s 1958 book Those About To Die, which also inspired the Gladiator movie starring Russell Crowe, 58, as Maximus.
Vespasian was a Roman emperor who reigned from 69 to 79 AD and during his reign the Flavian Amphitheatre, better known today as the Roman Colosseum, was built.

Those About To Die is set in the “complex and corrupt” world of gladiatorial competition and follows an ensemble of characters from all walks of Roman society.
An official synopsis described the aging Vespasian as “despised by the patricians who vie for position in the realm and want to displace his heirs to the throne at the first chance they get.”
In addition to directing, Roland will also executive produce the series alongside writer Robert Rodat.
Anthony won an Oscar in 2021 for his performance in The Father and also won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his work in the 1991 film Silence Of The Lambs.
Roland directed, co-wrote and co-produced the 2022 sci-fi disaster film Moonfall, which was a blockbuster after grossing just $67 million worldwide.
The film starring Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson was released in February 2022 and was panned by critics.
Anthony began his acting career in the 1960s and made his screen debut in the 1967 British short drama The White Bus.
He was knighted in 1993 by the late Queen Elizabeth II for services to drama.
Anthony recently portrayed Odin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and starred in the HBO series Westworld.
