Fresh anguish for showy Hamptons influencer whose husband killed himself after amassing $34m debt
Mama & Tata blogger Candice Miller, 42, sells literally everything in her family home during a fire auction following her husband’s suicide.
Real estate mogul Brandon Miller, 43, took his own life in their $15.5 million home in the Hamptons over the Fourth of July weekend while secretly owing $33.6 million.
Candice received $15 million in life insurance benefits – despite his manner of death – and sold the Water Mill mansion last month for about the same amount.
Still dealing with massive debt because Miller left her with only about $8,000 in the bank, she is selling everything from furniture to kitchenware at auction.
With just over four days to go, many of the 225 pieces are going for rock-bottom prices and some have no bids at all.
A white linen sofa from Dmitry & Co is priced at $750 after 27 bids and a beautiful antique French hand-painted corner armoire is a steal at $51.
An all-vintage metal queen-size four-poster bed goes for $42, a set of Restoration Hardware outdoor sofas and coffee table goes for $625, and a bizarre faux teak outdoor table has a high bid of $130.

There are three TVs for sale, one 55-inch has a top bid of $50, but the other two, a 33-inch and a 32-inch, are just $10 each.

An African wooden face mask on a metal stand costs $20, a deer antler candlestick costs $90, a stone Chinese ax head costs just $13, and a decorated Asian flower planter costs $2.
Candice has agreed to pay about $4 million to settle a lawsuit over an unpaid loan in August, but still has a way to pay off the debts.
She lives with her two children in a rented $10 million apartment in Miami, and was sued for $194,881.89 in unpaid rent on another $47,000-a-month home on Park Avenue.
Candice is fighting the lawsuit, arguing that she did not personally sign the lease.

Miller died of carbon monoxide inhalation in the garage of his mansion while his wife and their daughters were in Europe.
Insurance companies typically do not pay out on policies in the event of suicide, but that exclusion typically lasts only two years after the policy is purchased, industry experts said.
The mansion had five mortgages totaling nearly $12 million when Miller died.
Miller’s mother Barbara died last month at the age of 81. His family said she died of a “broken heart.”
“Our beautiful Barbara has passed away with a broken heart, and we are desperately trying to find comfort and peace knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved husband, Michael, and precious son, Brandon,” said her daughter Maurley Miller.

Candice, who was known for flaunting her life in New York’s wealthiest circles, has filed a bond application detailing four outstanding loans on the property, including a $2 million mortgage from Titan Capital, which also recently sued her for missed payments.
In addition to the real estate debt, Brandon had a significant $11.3 million unsecured loan from BMO Bank.
In addition, he owed more than $6 million to Donald Jaffe, a financier who had previously financed Miller and his father on several projects.
Jaffe is still taking legal action to recover the unpaid balance.

Other creditors include American Express and Funding Club, a Brooklyn-based lender, to whom Brandon owed more than $300,000 and $266,000, respectively.
In a suicide note, the father explained that a business deal had fallen through at the last minute, leaving him feeling like there was no way out.
Candice moved to Miami Beach shortly after her husband’s suicide and now lives in a multimillion-dollar apartment owned by a member of the von Fürstenberg family.
Her now-defunct Mama & Tata account often featured lavish displays of wealth, including extravagant parties, designer clothes and luxury getaways.
