French referee Francois Letexier is handed England’s Euro 2024 final against Spain – and he’s already had a run-in with an English manager over an ‘inappropriate comment’

UEFA has announced that French referee Francois Letexier will officiate at the 2024 European Championship final between England and Spain on Sunday.

The highlight in Berlin will be the fourth match of the tournament under the leadership of the 35-year-old, who has been an international referee since 2017.

Gareth Southgate’s side secured a place in the second final of the European Championship after a late win over the Netherlands on Wednesday night, thanks to Ollie Watkins’s precise finishing.

While Spain, the best team in the competition so far, beat France by the same score 24 hours earlier.

Letexier will be joined in Sunday’s final by French assistants Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni, while Polish referee Szymon Marciniak will take on the role of fourth official.
