French Montana has been honored for his efforts to change and save lives.
The charity Pencils of Promise Thursday honored the diamond-selling rapper, 37, for his efforts as an innovator who has raised more than $226 million for healthcare in Africa, including funds for the Budondo Suubi “Hope” Health Center.
The facility is the primary source of health care for new mothers and their babies in an otherwise desolate area of Uganda.

The ceremony took place in New York. The BET Hip Hop award winner began his humanitarian efforts after traveling to Uganda in 2017 to shoot the video for Unforgettable.
In an interview with TMZ the artist praised the group’s work, saying they “are doing groundbreaking work worldwide to keep children in school and ensure they have a safe environment in which to learn.” This reminds me of my humble beginnings growing up in Morocco when I couldn’t speak English.’
The Moroccan resident spoke from experience: ‘Education was fundamental to my trip to the US to emigrate and start my career as an artist, which is why this work is so important to our youth.’

French also thanked his partners Global Citizen and Mama Hope.
The All Day performer stayed true to his personal style throughout the black-tie event, wearing distressed blue jeans, a white Celine sweater and work boots.
He wore a diamond-encrusted Coke Boys necklace and kept his hair and beard trimmed short.

The recognition for humanitarian efforts comes as his latest song, Fenty, with Nav was released.
