Grim sight as man dies after alleged assault on Frankston pier in Melbourne – with another man arrested nearby

One person has died in a brawl between two men on a pier in Melbourne.

Detectives arrested a man on the shoreline at Frankston Pier, in the city’s south-east, at around 6am on Saturday morning, just hours after the incident. They said they are not looking for others.

Police were called to the scene after reports of an attack on the pier, which is located on the Pier Promenade.

When officers arrived, they found an unconscious man halfway inside the building, who died shortly after.

The arrested man has not been charged and is currently assisting police with their investigation.

According to police, the two men did not know each other before the alleged attack.

The area has been cordoned off and forensic police are examining the crime scene.
