Frank Lampard praised Chelsea fans on Saturday night but urged them to stick with Raheem Sterling and Hakim Ziyech after the two substitutes were booed as they came on in the win over Bournemouth.
Chelsea fans also directed swear words at current owner Todd Boehly and chanted their support for former owner Roman Abramovich as Ziyech and Sterling both proved decisive, leading Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix to score late goals to end the to record a run of six consecutive defeats and Chelsea’s first record. winning for nearly two months.
Chelsea fans and players reconciled at the end with mutual applause after the win and Lampard said: ‘Our fans have been fantastic today. I appreciate their support.

“I’m not going to comment on the things you talk about, but I know the fans will stay at this club and it’s a fantastic group. I know there are a lot of intentions to get this club where it needs to be and there isn’t a club of our size that hasn’t had transition periods and wouldn’t give their left arm to be where we’ve been.

“If everyone sticks together, I’m sure we will. It is important to feel the connection between players and fans.
“In terms of the subs they’ve made, they’ve all made an impact.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek gave us a physical presence and Raheem was involved in the goal. Cesar Azpilicueta filled in and put us in charge. Hakim gave us an assist and really played.
“Opinions can always change in a period, but she [Sterling and Ziyech] are two players who want to do well and have a lot of talent, both.
“Sometimes, when it comes to form, there has been a lot of underperformance this year, that is temporary. And I think their class is permanent and it showed when they came. Today was a nice little step forward.”
