Franck Kessie’s agent denounces Spanish journalist for ‘unsubstantiated and misleading rumors that he had agreed to leave Barcelona’ after consultation with Xavi Hernandez
- Franck Kessie’s representatives have criticized reports linking him to an exit
- The Barcelona midfielder has been linked with a departure by reports in Spain
- Those claims have been rejected by his agent and labeled as “baseless news”
Franck Kessie’s representatives are furious at reports in Spain linking the Barcelona midfielder to a departure from the club.
The 26-year-old moved to the LaLiga champions just 12 months ago but is already being touted as a name that could be on the wane as the club look to fund newcomers through player sales.
Kessie – formerly of AC Milan – was surprisingly revealed by popular Spanish journalist Gerard Romero as destined for a summer departure after talks with Barcelona manager Xavi.
Romero claimed the player wanted to leave after talking to the coach after a difficult first season in Spain, but those reports were vehemently denied.
Kessie’s Ambition Group representatives criticized the allegations in a post on Instagram criticizing the journalist for publishing “unfounded news.”

Rejecting Romero’s allegations, they stated: ‘Dear Gerard Romero, for the umpteenth time we have noticed that you have published unfounded news about one of our clients (Franck Kessie).
Despite ourselves, we inform those who follow us and especially those who follow you that you have never given exact information about Kessie.
“Ethically, we think it’s a totally wrong way to do your job.
“So please stop publishing unsubstantiated and misleading information presented as news about our client,” they added.

The unusual move by Kessie’s agent extinguishes any suggestion that the player is looking for a way out of the Nou Camp this summer.
He played a supporting role in last season’s LaLiga title win, making 28 league appearances but only lasting 90 minutes once and starting just seven games.
Barcelona’s place in midfield will be tested even harder next season with the arrival of former Manchester City Treble-winning captain Ilkay Gundogan.
The German fills the same box-to-box role that suits Kessie and looks set for a starting role in Xavi’s line-up next season.
