Francis Ngannou has claimed he is ‘Manchester United’s favorite heavyweight boxer’.
The former UFC fighter, who will face United fan Tyson Fury in October, was present when Erik ten Hag’s team lost 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas on Sunday.
And it was a disappointing performance from United, with the Dutch manager challenging his team to an ‘unforgivable’ capitulation after the game, notably their third pre-season loss on the bounce in the US.
The Red Devils took the lead within 25 minutes through Diogo Dalot, but conceded twice, with Donyell Malen scoring a duo of goals within seconds at the end of the first half.
Antony would equalize after the break, but with a draw Youssoufa Moukoko would find a winner for Dortmund in the 76th minute, in front of over 50,000 fans at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Ngannou was one of those in the crowd and was pictured wearing the club’s new home shirt with ‘Ngannou 7’ printed on the back.
He appeared on the club’s official Instagram stories, shaking hands with Ten Hag, before posting several videos to his own account and signing autographs for fans at the stadium.
Widely regarded as one of the hardest punchers in the world, the 36-year-old also posed for a photo at the side of the court with his fists raised and posted the photo to his social media account, teasing his soon-to-be. opponent, Fury, with his caption.
He wrote: ‘@ManchesterUnited’s favorite heavyweight boxer is in the building. Can’t wait to see the game tonight in Vegas. @WeAreUnited #FuryNgannou.”
Fury, who hails from the town of Wythenshawe, a 30-minute drive south of Manchester city centre, is a well-known United fan who has been photographed at Old Trafford on numerous occasions.
He sensationally claimed last year that club legend Wayne Rooney would be his sparring partner ahead of his proposed fight with Oleksandr Usyk that ultimately fell through.

The former UFC heavyweight champion will enter the ring for the first time against Fury, who has been widely criticized for turning down a fight with Oleksandr Usyk
The British fighter has been heavily criticized for dismissing the Ukrainian fighter and opting instead to fight the former UFC heavyweight champion.
Last week, Zhilei Zhang accused the WBC champ of avoiding legitimate challengers, while some fans have denounced his decision to fight the former UFC star, calling him “pathetic.”
Ngannou, who was defeated just three times in his glittering UFC career, will enter the boxing ring for the first time in his career with the pair set to battle in Saudi Arabia later this year.
His most recent win was against Ciryl Gane where he won via unanimous decision to retain his heavyweight championship belt.
