FOX Sports’ Skip Bayless thinks Tom Brady will return to the NFL next year for Season No. 24 … but he’s leaving Tampa after seeing ‘the handwriting on locker room walls’
With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers knocked out of the playoffs in last night’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, speculation surrounding Tom Brady’s career has continued to run rampant.
The 45-year-old quarterback’s contract with Tampa Bay ends after this season, leaving Brady free to choose his next assignment or retire from the sport.
With no indication of what he will do, FOX Sports analyst Skip Bayless spoke on his show ‘Undisputed’ and said he believes Brady will return to the NFL.
Tom Brady has a lot to think about with his season after last night’s loss to Dallas
Fox Sports’ Skip Bayless believes the quarterback will return to the NFL next season
‘I think he will play again next year, I don’t think it will be in Tampa. I think he sees the handwriting all over the locker room walls, because now he sits down, and you can tell he’s kidding himself, but he says, “My offensive line was a disaster compared to what it was last year.” past and the year before,” Bayless said.
“Because I lost two pro guards. And I lost my center all the way until last night. And my left tackle was hurt and horrible most of the year, because he led the league in holding penalties. And my right tackle missed four games and never I did well after a high ankle sprain.”
‘So he’s saying to himself right now, “I just had no protection” because they finished 24th in pass, block and win rate.
“And he’s like, ‘I had zero rushing games all year, we came in last, except for that first game in Dallas, we had 151 because playoff Lenny (Fournette) had 127, but after that we couldn’t run.”
“So, I couldn’t play fake, there’s no game action, and I wanted to go faster and for some reason the coaches didn’t want to go faster with the rush.”
‘His wide receivers, he had no speed. He thought Julio (Jones) was going to provide speed and Julio got hurt in the opener in Dallas and he got hurt. Last night, he looked as healthy as he’s looked all year.
“But the point is, Brady will hold on to 432 (yards) against Carolina in the division money game, three touchdowns to Mike Evans and a sneaky quarterback for a fourth touchdown. He’ll hold on to that, and he’ll hold on to the one shot he fired at Julio.
Brady’s loss to Dallas last night could mark the last time we see him in a Buccaneers uniform.
It could also mark the end of his NFL career, with Brady’s mother over possible retirement plans.
Brady could only lead the Buccaneers to an 8-9 record this season, his first losing season of his NFL career.
He finished the regular season third in the league in total passing yards with 4,694 behind league leader Patrick Mahomes and runner-up Justin Herbert.
Brady also finished tied for eighth in the NFL in touchdown passes with 25 on the season, along with Herbert, Tua Tagovailoa and Trevor Lawrence.
