More than 16 million Americans tuned in at the peak of FOX’s World Cup coverage to watch the USA’s Round of 16 loss to the Netherlands in Qatar on Saturday morning.
FOX Soccer, the broadcaster of the World Cup in the United States, released its numbers on Sunday night, revealing that the peak audience came during the second half, when 16.368 million fans were watching the game.
The broadcaster said it was a 163 percent increase in the last-16 average viewership figures it had for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, for which the United States failed to qualify.
