Fox News prime-time host Jesse Watters has faced criticism after saying the arrests of former President Donald Trump had made him more popular among black Americans.
The political commentator had been speaking on his Monday night show when he said the Trump campaign has gained a new-found base of support among black Americans.
Watters, 45, said: “The mugshot has revived the Trump campaign and increased its appeal to black Americans.
This weekend, the Trump campaign raised more than $7 million through mugshot merchandise.
“Today my garbage collector told me he’s buying mugshot T-shirts for everyone he knows this Christmas.”

Watters continued, “The mugshot is on the side of downtown buildings. The phenomenon of 2016 is happening again.
Trump won that election thanks to a laser like Focus on the Forgotten Man. A bond was then formed that can never be broken.
“And there is a new forgotten man, the black man. The Democrats have forgotten them.’
Watters’ monologue was shared on Twitter and heavily criticized, with one social media user labeling the view that the mugshot will boost black voter support as “insanely racist.”
One X user said, “The idea that black Americans have a fondness for everyone who’s ever been arrested is deeply racist.”
Another added, “I’m sorry, but the argument that The Mugshot will boost black voter support for Trump is so insanely racist I can’t believe people are saying it out loud.”

Organized by Insider advantageThe survey of likely Republican voters found that, despite his controversies, the former president has a 27 percent lead over his closest runner-up in Ron DeSantis, and 34 percent over South Carolina’s Nikki Haley.
Next up was the man many thought had won the noticeably Trump-less debate, biotech millionaire Vivek Ramaswamy, who recently beat DeSantis as the perceived winner in a poll organized by DailyMail.com. Here he scored only fourth place, with 7 percent.
