Fox News accidentally posted a photo of former White Sox player Frank Thomas on Friday morning as part of an “in memoriam” segment, confusing him with a previous big leaguer of the same name who died in January.

The confusion forced Thomas to post a message and photo of himself on social media to prove he is “alive and doing well.”

Fox News issued a correction live on air about half an hour after the error was made.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I am deeply sorry that my ex-employer Fox behaved so irresponsibly on National TV this morning,” Thomas said on social media. 'Yes, I'm alive and doing well. This surprises me too.'

The two Frank Thomas's are not related. The elder Thomas's playing career ended in 1966, while the elder White Sox was born in 1968.

Thomas worked as a baseball analyst for Fox Sports for nine years and was only replaced in April

Thomas worked for Fox Sports from 2014 until earlier this year, when he was replaced by Derek Jeter.

The mess is startling because most baseball fans wouldn't know there were two former All-Stars named Frank Thomas.

The elder Thomas played for seven teams in 16 MLB seasons and was a three-time All-Star. He never received Hall of Fame consideration.

Now 55, the White Sox legend was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014, when he first appeared on the ballot.

After leaving Fox, Thomas was featured on Apple TV's MLB coverage.

Thomas has appeared in commercials for the testosterone-boosting supplement Nugenix in the past, leading some fans to say “he'll live until he's 152.”

Based on the mistake, a reunion between Thomas and Fox seems unlikely.
