Fourth quarter results today: IndiGo, ITC and Fortis are among 181 companies reporting earnings

Leading companies including aviation giant IndiGo, conglomerate ITC, Fortis Healthcare, Finolex Cables, Rupa & Company are expected to announce their financial results for the quarter ended March 31 (Q4) of financial year 2023-24 (FY24) on Thursday. May 23.

At least 181 companies are expected to release their fourth-quarter earnings reports today, including Page Industries, Shilpa Medicare, Nucleus Software Exports, Schneider Electric Infrastructure and Suraj Products.

On Wednesday, India’s largest domestic pharmaceutical company Sun Pharmaceutical Industries reported a remarkable 33.8 percent increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,654.58 crore for Q4FY24. Sun Pharma’s total operating revenue for the fourth quarter stood at Rs 11,982.9 crore, up 9.6 percent year-on-year (year-on-year) from Rs 10,930.67 crore. However, sales saw a marginal decline of 3.2 percent from Rs 12,380.7 crore reported in the third quarter.

Indian shares ended a range-high session on a positive note on Wednesday. The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 74,221, up 268 points or 0.36 percent. Similarly, the Nifty50 ended at 22,598, up 69 points or 0.31 percent.

Market heavyweights such as Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), Reliance Industries, Infosys, Asian Paints, ITC and Ultratech Cement strengthened the benchmarks, with their shares rising between 1 percent and 2.3 percent. Among sectors, the Nifty Realty and FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) indices rose 1.4 percent each, while the Nifty Private Bank, Financial Services and Metal indices declined up to 0.6 percent .

At least 500 companies will publish their fourth-quarter earnings reports this week. This period is critical for domestic markets as these announcements are expected to significantly impact market movements.
