Four teens were rushed to hospital after the ute rolled onto the beach, with the driver allegedly DRUNK

A teenager has been charged after rolling a packed ute with six other companions into a popular beach camping spot while allegedly drunk behind the wheel.

Emergency services were called to Teewah Beach near Noosa on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast early Wednesday following reports of a single vehicle rollover.

Four of the seven teenagers inside the ute were seriously injured.

Two were airlifted to hospital with serious head, chest and back injuries.

Two other children were taken to the hospital with significant injuries.

Three other teenagers escaped unharmed with minor injuries.

The 17-year-old driver received a notice to appear for suspected drink driving.

The photos showed the severely damaged ute stranded in the water.

Investigations by the Accident Forensic Unit continue as police issue a warning to tourists.

“The accident is a reminder that driving on beaches can be dangerous,” Inspector Brad Inskip said.

“The surfaces are different to what most of us are used to and the driver needs to be more careful.

We also remind motorists that the same rules of the road apply when driving on a beach or in national parks as they do when driving on any road in Queensland.”

Police have also promised to increase patrols throughout the Sunshine Coast region during the busy holiday period.
