Three minors and an adult were injured in a horror drive-by shooting in San Antonio, Texas.
Police rushed to the scene around 2:10 p.m. Friday after reports of an ongoing shooting on the northeast side of the city.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the drive-by shooting was a targeted attack, with the intended victim reportedly being a man under the age of 18 who was hit by the gunfire.
McManus confirmed that the other victims were a five-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy and a 60-year-old woman, as he stressed that the attack was “not random.”
A large police presence was seen outside the crime scene, which took place in northeast San Antonio
The attack took place outside an apartment complex, where an unknown number of suspects reportedly rolled into vehicles before unloading on the victims and fleeing the scene.
The youngest child was in the targeted vehicle when the perpetrator opened fire, while the others stood outside.
All four victims were taken to hospital after the attack, but further updates on their condition have not been released.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, and it is unclear how many suspects were involved.
The police chief said after the attack that police have information about a suspicious vehicle, but declined to release further details.
“Drive-by shootings are always dangerous, not only for the intended target, but also for other people who happen to be in the line of fire,” McManus said.
The shooting broke out at the Costa Biscaya apartments in San Antonio (pictured), which police claimed is not known as a problem area
“Unfortunately, in this case, there were three other people who were not the intended target.
“This wasn’t random… we’re speaking to the intended target – who we believe is the intended target.”
The apartment complex, called Costa Biscaya, was ‘not on the radar’ as a problem area with the judiciary.
“Drive-bys can happen anywhere, it just depends on what the gunmen are after – it just depends on where they are. It can happen anywhere,” McManus said.
