“The four of them were walking down Carpenter Street… at one point they were attacked by a group of men with unknown numbers,” he said during a news conference on Sunday.

‘The level of violence used is extreme. The injuries indicate the use of weapons or blunt force weapons.”

No arrests have been made yet, but officers are focusing on a particular home on Carpenter Street where a party is believed to have been held.

Insp Peroni did not confirm whether the attack was targeted or random, but assured the public that as far as police were aware there was no ongoing threat.

Carpenter Street was closed overnight while officers investigated the scene.
