Four men arrested after fatal shooting of two people at beachside home in Rye on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula
Four men have been arrested over the fatal shooting of two people at a beachside property in Rye, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
Charlyze Hayter, 19, and Jackson Gilmour, 29, were allegedly murdered at Mr Gilmour’s home in Parson Street in Rye in the early hours of December 2.
Police arrested a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old man from Narre Warren, in Melbourne’s south-east, on Friday, as well as a 24-year-old man from Narre Warren South and a 28-year-old man. man from Narre Warren North.
Victoria Police said detectives would now question the four men.
The investigation into the deaths of Ms Hayter and Mr Gilmour remains ongoing.
Mr Gilmour was sleeping in the property on December 2 when Ms Hayter and an unknown man, armed with a rifle, broke into the house shortly after 4am.
Both Mr Gilmour and Ms Hayter were reportedly shot during an ensuing struggle.
Police were called to the house shortly after 4am on Monday, December 2, after reports of a loud argument between a group of people in the property.

Officers found Mr. Gilmour and Ms. Hayter with critical gunshot wounds inside the home.
Despite the efforts of the ambulance crew, they died on the spot.
Victoria Police said Mr Gilmour and the two intruders were acquaintances at the time and launched an extensive manhunt for Ms Hayter’s alleged accomplices amid fears a gunman was on the loose.
Mr Gilmour, affectionately known as Jack to friends, had lived on the Mornington Peninsula for more than a decade.
The twin deaths have shocked local residents of Rye, a wealthy coastal suburb 60 miles south of Melbourne known for its beaches.
