Four men arrested after LSU sorority student Madison Brooks was struck and killed in a car gang rape

Agents have arrested four men in connection with the rape and subsequent death of a 19-year-old Louisiana State University student who was struck and killed by a car after her ordeal.

Madison Brooks, known as Madi to her friends, was struck by the vehicle on January 15 and later died at a hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

On Monday night, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office arrested several people on suspicion of rape in connection with Brooks’ death.

Two people, Kaivon Washington, ages 17 and 18, were arrested and charged with third-degree rape.

In addition, Casen Carver, 18, and Everett Lee, 28, were also arrested and charged as accessories to third-degree rape.

Washington and Carver graduated from Walker High School. Carver was a member of the baseball team there reports KSLA.

The arrest documents also indicate that Brooks had a blood alcohol level of 0.319% at the time of her death, meaning she was highly intoxicated, almost four times the legal limit.

Brooks, who was from Covington, Louisiana, had attended St. Scholastica Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school, and was a sophomore in Alpha Phi sorority at LSU.

The group posted a touching tribute to their sister on Instagram on Monday.

‘Madi was a bubbly, loving and selfless friend. She left an indelible mark on our chapter, we treasure our memories together and we will never forget her. Our eternal friend was also a hero, Madi donated her heart and her kidneys to save others.

“We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. And we respectfully ask for time and space so that we can support each other in our healing process.’

Madison was the eldest of three children born to mother Ashley, 43, and her husband, Scott, 51.

Her younger brothers, Brady and Aiden, were several years younger than their older brother, but photos on social media show doting parents spending quality time with their kids while Madi was away at college.

In court documents seen by DailyMail.com, Washington, one of the defendants in Brooks’ alleged rape testified that he had a consensual sexual encounter with her after the group left Reggie’s Bar in Tigerland in Baton Rouge following a night of excessive alcohol consumption.

Washington said he and another teen had sex with Brooks in the backseat of a car, while Carver and Lee sat in the front seat.

Carver admitted that he and his three friends drank at the bar before leaving with Brooks, who was “very unsteady on his feet, unable to keep his balance and unable to speak clearly without slurring his words,” the arrest document says. .

Carver allegedly told investigators that his 17-year-old friend and Brooks were “hugging and walking together.”

Investigators say Carver told them Brooks asked for a ride home.

She then told investigators how both Washington and the 17-year-old asked Brooks to have sex with them, to which she agreed, according to the court order.

However, Carver also told investigators that he believed Brooks was too drunk to know that she was consenting to sex and that he “hated it.”

The men claim Brooks then asked for a ride home, but say she gave them several different addresses before getting out of the car.

Carver says Brooks was then dropped off in a neighborhood near the scene where she was struck on Burbank Drive.

She was killed shortly after she walked into the middle of the road where she was struck by a carpool around 3 a.m.

Brooks was said to have been standing on an unlit part of the road near Pelican Lakes Parkway when she was struck.

The driver who hit her has not been arrested and is not suspected of being under the influence.

Under Louisiana law, the charge of third degree rape generally involves a victim who is ‘incapable of resisting or comprehending the nature of the act due to a stupor or abnormal mental condition produced by an intoxicating agent or any cause and the offender knew or should have known of the victim’s disability.

LSU President William Tate issued a statement Monday hoping something good could come of Brooks’ death.

‘Madison was a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, a niece, a classmate and a friend to so many of you. By all accounts, she was an incredible young woman with limitless potential. She shouldn’t have been taken from us like this. What happened to him was bad, and our legal system will dole out justice,” Tate said.

‘Our collective pain and outrage cannot be put into mere words. So what can we do? It is time to act. A place to focus our attention is the very place where this meeting began.

All but one of the suspects involved in this gruesome scenario were underage but were able to consume alcohol at a local bar. As such, our action plan begins with a deep and relentless focus on any establishment that profits from our students by providing alcohol to underage persons.

‘In the coming days, we will convene a meeting with these business owners to discuss how their responsibilities directly impact the safety of our students. We will work openly against any company that does not join us in efforts to create a safer environment for our students. Enough is enough.’
