Fortnite’s new map will punish players for emotions
I think it’s hard to match the kind of unparalleled joy that emotions can bring Fortnite. Whether it’s playing your favorite cartoon character or, more recently, dancing to Chappell Roan, emotes have long been an important part of what it’s like to experience Fortnite. Emotes aren’t going anywhere, but the developers have introduced a fun twist as part of the new Chapter 6 Season 1 map: there’s a special spot that will literally eliminate your character if you get close to emotes.
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1: Hunters introduces a new map and loot pool inspired by Japan. You can fight Godzilla and then jump across new locations and jump over walls as if you were some kind of anime ninja. In addition to all that, the development team has created a small but cunning feature on the map. There is now a place where the game will punish you heavily for emotions.
All you have to do is head to the mountain just northwest of Foxy Floodgate. Go about halfway down the hill, where you’ll see a sign and some traffic barriers near a scenic viewpoint. (You’ll know you’re in the right place because there’s also a sprite shrine nearby.) The sign shows a small silhouette of a Fortnite character dancing with a red stripe across it. If you experience any emotion as a result, your character will suddenly fade into oblivion and die. You can watch a video of in action below.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Fortnite always been a stupid game. Personally, I still can’t get over the fact that some characters from series like Dragon ball And Avatar: The last airbender can now wear Nikes. So it’s a pleasure to see that these kinds of jokes are still part of the game.
