Epic Games' perennially popular battle royale game, Fortniteis about to get significantly bigger, with three new live-service games set to be added at the end of this week.
If you participate Fortnite's Big Bang event over the weekend (or if, like me, you watched it on YouTube to avoid the long lines), you saw the unveiling of Fortnite's upcoming experiences as they happened. Perhaps the most exciting of all is the Lego Fortnite mode – a survival crafting experience that Epic Games say “will encourage creativity, experimentation and collaboration through play.” It will be available to play from Thursday, December 7, after which more than 1,200 existing skins will get blocky Lego variants and players will be able to explore “large, open worlds.”
The next one on Friday December 8 is the Rocket racing experience, created by Rocket League developers Psyonix. Epic Games describes it as a “supersonic arcade racer” in which players can race along “an ever-expanding selection of tracks” with their friends. If you like to zoom in on the regular Battle Royale map Fortnite's vehicles, this will undoubtedly take that experience to the next level.
finally, the Fortnite Festival experience is a music game built by Rock band studio Harmonix, which allows players to perform “hit music from their favorite artists” solo or with friends in a band. Season one of the Fortnite Festival will be available starting Saturday, December 9, where it will kick off with music from The Weeknd.
The first season of FortniteThe game's fifth chapter is also in full swing, taking players to an all-new Battle Royale island full of new Points of Interest (POIs), weapons, items and more. Spread across the various locations, players can battle boss NPCs to earn 'Society Medallions', which allow you to continually regenerate shield points if you keep them in your inventory. The more you collect, the more you can regenerate. Compared to the more simplistic ones Fortnite O.Gthere's a lot to enjoy, but it's certainly an exciting time to be a fan of the game.
