Former Yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins’ surprise new career revealed

Emma Watkins has revealed that her new gig makes her feel a little older than her previous jobs working with young children.

The children’s entertainer and former Wiggles star, 35, traded in the yellow skivvy and now interacts with an older audience.

Emma is now the host of the ABC series Teenage Boss: Next Level.

In the show, the host meets teenagers as they are put in charge of the family budget for an entire month.

Speak with news.com.au of the show, Emma revealed that her presence often surprises the show’s teenage participants.

‘When I opened the door I saw a few shocked faces. That’s nice…but it reminds you how old you are,” Emma said.

While interacting with 15 to 17-year-olds on the show, which is now in its third series, Emma says she is still recognized as a Wiggle by the older cohort.

‘I actually only perform among three-year-olds, and then in the middle group [age group]sometimes i’m not cool. So now that we’ve moved to an older age group, I’m actually feeling nostalgic!’

Filmed in South Australia, the series is produced by McAvoy Media and aims to teach teenagers the ins and outs of responsible spending.

In 2022, Watkins shocked fans when she hung up her Yellow Wiggle costume after nearly a decade in the world-famous children’s group.

The beloved entertainer revealed that she had a “beautiful” conversation with her successor Tsehay Hawkins the night before she left the band.

The entertainer spoke to news.com.au on Tuesday and revealed her presence often surprises the show’s teenage participants. ‘When I opened the door I saw a few shocked faces. That’s nice…but it reminds you how old you are,” Emma said

She said Tsehay was excited to step into her shoes and that the two “couldn’t be in a better position” as they had already performed together.

“I probably didn’t think much the night before, but I remember talking to Tsehay on the phone, which was so sweet,” she said. 7Lifein which she explained that she had long thought about her decision to leave.

“I think I was ready for a new chapter, but I probably didn’t know if I would be ready or not.”

Since leaving the children’s supergroup last year, the former Yellow Wiggle has created a new character, Emma Memma, which she revealed in July 2022.

Her alter ego still has Watkins’ signature curly hair, but she has dyed it red to match her bright orange dress and pink shirt.
