Former X Factor star Myles Stephenson has revealed he is undergoing tests in hospital after learning he has a heart condition.

The Rak-Su singer, 31, shared in social media posts Friday that he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy while sharing a picture of monitors on his chest.

He later explained in an Instagram story, “I’m fine. I have a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which basically means in a nutshell that my heart walls are too thick and it can cause trouble pumping blood around my body.

“So I have annual checkups. This is all very new to me as well, so I’m still figuring out what to do and how to conduct myself now regarding my heart and how much exercise I can do and things like that.”

The singer went on to say that he had also undergone a fitness test, but it was cut short because his blood pressure is ‘dangerously high’.

But he was quick to reassure his fans, insisting, “I’m all right, don’t worry, it’s very new to me, I’m trying to understand what’s going on.”

What is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy?

huhHypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a condition in which the heart muscle becomes thickened.

About one in 5,000 people has the condition, and it usually develops during the teenage years or young adulthood.

However, the symptoms vary depending on the severity.

These include shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations, dizziness, and fits of fainting — usually during exercise.

It can cause the heart muscle to stiffen, meaning your left ventricle doesn’t fill as easily as it normally does and less blood is pumped out.

It can also partially obstruct blood flow, increasing the likelihood of small blood clots.
