Former UConn basketball player Rakim Lubin dies at 28, as his family asks for prayers

Former UConn basketball player Rakim Lubin has died at the age of 28 online obituary.

According to the obituary from Prestige Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Gadsden, Alabama, Lubin died on Sunday.

A cause of death was not stated.

“We ask that you keep this family and those going through the same thing in your prayers,” the obituary read.

Lubin played the 2014-15 season at UConn before transferring to Cal State Northridge.

According to the Hartford Couranthe earned the name ‘Rock’ because of his bruising playing style.

He averaged 1 point and 1.2 rebounds per game as a freshman at Connecticut before transferring.

At Cal State Northridge, he averaged 8.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in the 2016-17 season.
