- Dwain Chambers will race in the British Indoor Athletics Championships
- The 45-year-old won his last indoor title in 2012
- Chambers was given a two-year doping ban twenty years ago
Former world 100m medalist Dwain Chambers will race at the British Athletics Indoor Championships next month at the age of 45.
The father-of-three, who was given a two-year doping ban 20 years ago, broke the world record for over-45s in the 60 meters earlier this month when he clocked 6.81 seconds in Lee Valley.
Chambers described himself as ‘Benjamin Button’ after that performance and he will now compete against sprinters half his age in Birmingham after competing in the UKA Indoor Championships for the first time in four years.
The sprinter is still the British record holder in the 60m, despite winning the last of his five national indoor titles in 2012.
He also won the world indoor title in 2010, but his best performance was his world bronze in the 100 meters in Seville in 1999 before testing positive for anabolic steroid THG in 2003.

Chambers last represented Great Britain internationally a decade ago but has continued racing despite becoming a coach at his own academy in Lee Valley.
He competed in the UKA outdoor championships in 2021 and 2022, although he failed to clear the 100m heats.
In Birmingham, Chambers could meet a fellow former world 60m champion in Richard Kilty, as well as reigning British champion Reece Prescod and Eugene Amo-Dadzie, who was last year’s world semi-finalist in the 100m.
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, 35, is also taking part in the event, fresh from appearing as Nitro in the BBC remake of Gladiators.
