Former Studio 10 star quits talkback radio role after being ‘overlooked’ for on-air performance: ‘It’s pretty clear it wasn’t going to happen’
He is known as one of the best Australian media insiders.
And Rob McKnight has announced that he is quitting his job at Brisbane’s 4BC out of frustration.
McKnight, a former TV executive, said he quit his role as producer of the Sofie Formica afternoon show because he was overlooked for an on-air appearance.
McKnight, who has been with 4BC since October 2021, took to Twitter last week to announce the shock move, expressing his frustration with the talkback station.
McKnight told followers on Twitter that his last day of work will be June 23.

“Today I submitted my resignation,” the former TV producer said on Friday.
“It’s been a great ride, but my goal was to transition into a broadcast role and that doesn’t seem to be on the cards,” he continued.
‘So I ride off into the sunset. My last day is June 23. Lots of love xo.’
McKnight, who held top positions at Seven, Nine and Ten, paid tribute to 4BC’s popular afternoon presenter by tweeting:
“And leaving the wonderful Sofie is the hardest part of it all, because I absolutely love her.”
McKnight also denied he was in the running to replace 4BC’s drive-time host Neil Breen, who announced last month he was leaving the station.

“Nah mate, I didn’t even qualify for that part,” he tweeted to a benefactor.
And I was overlooked for fill-in roles, so it was pretty obvious it wasn’t going to happen. Anyway, at least I know and can move on.’
Known for his industry insider blog TV black boxMcKnight was Studio 10’s original executive producer when it debuted in 2013.
In a previous role, he worked as a producer on Channel Seven’s Sunrise.
