Former sex crimes detective Glen Coleman found guilty of groping teen

A sex crimes detective has been found guilty of abusing his position by a teenager who sexually touched the complainant twice without her consent, but has been cleared of raping her.

Glen Coleman stood trial for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman between March and May 2022 and abusing his position as an officer at Windsor police station.

He met the teen at the station in February 2022 after she went inside to make a complaint that her cousin had threatened to share nude photos of her online.

During the trial at Penrith District Court, jurors heard the 57-year-old allegedly begged the woman for sex after finding out she had gone to a strip club in Sydney for an interview.

Jurors heard he sent the teenager a text message asking her to send intimate nude photos and asking for sex for money.

On Friday, after about five hours of deliberation, the jury found that Coleman had sexually touched the woman without her consent, once in a park in Sydney’s west and again in an interrogation room at Windsor police station.

The officer was also found guilty of abusing his position in public office to obtain the woman for his own sexual gratification.

However, the jury acquitted Coleman of three counts of rape and four other counts of sexual touching without consent.

Coleman has always maintained that sex in the interrogation room was consensual and that he denied touching the woman without her consent or free will.

His bail was revoked after the verdict and he will be held in custody until sentencing on September 27.
