Former partner of Channel 10 presenter allegedly murdered by cop opens up about unimaginable grief

The former partner of Channel 10 presenter Jesse Baird, allegedly killed by a Sydney cop in a double murder, says he is still mourning the loss.

Corey-Dean Thorpe posted an old video to social media of himself happily driving next to Mr Baird, before cutting to more recent footage of him driving with an empty passenger seat as he choked back tears.

“The reality of grief,” the caption read.

It’s been almost a year since Sydney police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon allegedly murdered 26-year-old Jesse Baird and 29-year-old flight attendant Luke Davies in February 2024 and dumped their bodies in rural NSW.

Police allege the then senior constable used his service weapon to kill Mr Baird and Mr Davies, who were dating, at Mr Baird’s home in Paddington in Sydney’s east.

It came after a months-long campaign of “predatory behavior” targeting Mr Baird, with whom Lamarre-Condon had had a brief relationship, police allege.

Mr Thorpe, a Gold Coast real estate agent, previously dated Mr Baird for five years.

They separated when Baird moved from Queensland to Sydney to pursue his TV career, but the pair remained close friends.

According to Mr Thorpe, Mr Baird met Lamarre-Condon in a nightclub shortly after moving to Sydney, and their relationship was strictly a ‘friends with benefits’ arrangement.

When Thorpe heard about the alleged murders in February, he wrote on social media that the news “left me speechless and struggling with feelings that cannot be put into words.”

‘For the first time in my life I am at a loss for words.

“The weight of the news has shattered every fiber of my being and echoes the feelings of countless others who share this deep sense of loss.”

The situation felt like a ‘haunting nightmare’ from which he couldn’t wake up.

“Your presence in my life has been a beacon of light, embodying qualities of compassion, kindness and beauty that have left an indelible mark on my soul.”

The couple split when Mr Baird moved from Queensland to Sydney to pursue his TV career, while Mr Thorpe remained on the Gold Coast.

Lamarre-Condon was arrested after reporting to Bondi police station, four days after the alleged murders, and before the bodies of Mr Baird and Mr Davies were found.

The remains were discovered on February 27, wrapped in surfboard bags, at a property in Bungonia, south of Sydney.

The 29-year-old was dismissed by the NSW Police Force in mid-March. He is currently in custody at Sydney’s Long Bay Prison awaiting trial.

He joined the force in 2019 and previously ran a celebrity blog, where he posed in photos with dozens of A-listers, including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles.

His high-profile lawyer John Walford was replaced by Legal Aid representation in early November.

The case will return to court next month.
