Former NFL running back Derrick Ward is staring down the barrel of a long prison sentence after being hit with five charges in an alleged series of robberies.
That's according to TMZwho claim prosecutors filed robbery charges against the former Super Bowl champion on Wednesday.
It comes a few days after Ward was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of robbing a number of businesses, including gas stations.
Reports claim the 43-year-old was in police custody as of Thursday morning. His bail, it is said, has been set at $250,000.
Ward, who was part of the New York Giants team that won Super Bowl XLII in 2008, was arrested Monday afternoon and taken into custody later that evening.

Police reportedly claim he did not use a gun during the robberies, but the LA resident is still said to have used “violence” and “fear” to get money from the stores.
Ward played in the NFL from 2004 to 2011, enjoying stints with the New York Jets, Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans.
He was picked by the Jets in round seven of the 2004 draft before signing a $17 million contract with the Buccaneers a few years later.
In 2008, Ward was part of the Giants team that defeated Tom Brady and the undefeated Patriots to win the Super Bowl.
Throughout his career, he played 93 NFL games, totaling 2,628 yards and finishing with 15 touchdowns.
