Luuk de Jong has reportedly kicked a door off his hinges after PSV’s unnecessary concession against Rangers just before half-time in the Champions League first leg on Tuesday.

The Dutch squad enjoyed the best of the first period action at Ibrox, coming close through efforts from Johan Bakayoko and Noah Lang.

But Ibrahim Sangare’s lack of concentration on the edge of his area presented Michael Beale’s team with an opportunity to move forward, which they rightly accepted thanks to Abdallah Sima’s curling effort.

According to Emma Dodds, reporter for TNT Sports, the former Barcelona striker and PSV captain was so angry about the goal that went against the rules that he “kicked a door off its hinges” in the tunnel as he went into the interval.

Expert and ex-Rangers striker Kenny Miller later joked that the Dutch striker should foot the bill.

Peter Bosz’s team managed to improve the equalizer on the hour with a calm finish from Sangare, who made up for his mistake in the opener.

But Rangers hit back again. Rabbi Matonda completed a quick, brilliant passage with sharp playing. Four minutes later, however, PSV and De Jong had the last word.

The striker came highest from the corner and made enough contact to see the ball fly past Jack Butland into goal.

The chaotic affair will ensure a delightful return in Eindhoven next Wednesday. Beale’s team will travel to Ross County on Saturday, while PSV will not play a game this weekend.
