The New York Giants are mourning the loss of former Pro Bowl center Greg Larson, who has died at the age of 84.
Larson played 13 seasons for the Giants, missing only three games during that time. He was recently named one of the team’s 100 greatest players of all time.
According to his obituary, Larson died in June surrounded by his wife of 63 years.
The former NFL player spent his final years in a nursing home in Plymouth, Minnesota, after returning to his home state following his playing career.
Larson married Josephine Blegen, “the love of his life,” in 1961. They had four children—Karin, Barton, Michael, and Christopher—and seven grandchildren.

Although he had a successful NFL career, his passion later in life turned to golf and he won several club championships.
Larson played 179 games for the Giants from 1961 through 1973, the second most in team history at the time, behind only Joe Morrison.
Giants President John Mara recently spoke about Larson at the team’s “Giants 100” event, saying, “He was our leader, our captain and one of the most popular players we had.
“Just a great all-around individual. He really embodied what it meant to be a Giant at that time.”
