Former Nebraska offensive lineman Cole Pensick dies at age 32 after a one-vehicle accident in Missouri, following a five-year stint with Cornhuskers
The University of Nebraska football team announced the death of former player Cole Pensick from a car accident on Sunday.
According to police, Pensick died in a single-vehicle accident TMZearly morning on Saturday.
“Mourning the loss of one of us,” Nebraska’s official football account wrote on Instagram and Twitter.
“On behalf of the Nebraska Football Program, our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends and teammates of former Husker lineman, Cole Pensick, who passed away yesterday at the age of 32.”
Police responded to a call at 6:42 a.m. after receiving a report of a 2022 Chevy Silverado driving through trees.
Cole Pensick was a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team for five seasons
Pensick played offensive line, appearing at center as well as at guard for Nebraska
Pensick failed to stop at a stop sign and was not wearing a seatbelt, police determined.
When police arrived, Pensick was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.
Pensick joined Nebraska in 2009 as a true freshman and spent that season as a redshirt.
From there, he worked his way up the depth chart, starring in each of the next four seasons and making 12 starts in his senior year.
He was 32 years old.
