Guerrero also claimed that Gaudelli was part of the trolls among ABC’s weekly audience of 40 million who constantly criticized his appearance, posture, and on-air skills.

She also alleged that he frequently made insensitive comments that nearly brought the sportscaster to the brink of committing suicide.

Gaudelli has previously denied similar allegations made by Guerrero, stating in a 2021 statement to the New York Post that he “did everything possible to support and encourage her.”

At the time, Guerrero and her fiancé, former MLB pitcher Scott Erickson, fantasized “about what our baby would look like,” despite agreeing not to have children.

Guerrero and Erickson had become pregnant during the season, and the mounting pressure eventually came to a head.

The journalist, an eight-time National Headliner Award winner, revealed that her miscarriage occurred when she was between 8 and 12 weeks pregnant.

“I went ahead and did my reporting,” Guerrero wrote in an excerpt first obtained by PEOPLErecalling that he suddenly felt an escalating pain in his abdomen during the first half of an MNF game late in the season.

‘When I felt wetness between my legs, I thought, ‘Oh, I’ve got my period.’ And then I remembered that she was pregnant. She was having a miscarriage! She could feel the blood dripping. The officers’ bathroom was in the tunnel behind me. “I’m going to the bathroom,” I told my assistant, whose job it was to run with me across the field. He looked at me like he was crazy. “They’re about to drop you.”

Listening to advice from her assistant, the Chicago native, who was roughly 38 at the time, stayed on the air to deliver her report live for fear that Gaudelli would scold her later.

“I was dizzy and nauseated, but I reminded myself to stand up straight. During our Wednesday phone calls, Freddie scolded me for bad posture. The pain was unbearable. I heard myself mispronounce a player’s name and knew he would find out later. As soon as I was done, I ran to interview a trainer. I then headed to the bathroom. As I sat on the toilet, I couldn’t believe the blood coming out of me. It had soaked through my pants. I stuffed a bunch of paper towels into my underwear.

She said it “never occurred to her” to tell anyone or go to the hospital and instead thought about how to cover the blood with her coat.

“When the game was over, I was supposed to go to the production truck to talk to Freddie. Instead, I headed to the plane. In the bathroom [on board], I changed my clothes and threw my underwear and pants in the trash. I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the pale, haggard, scared, and very tired woman staring back at me.

Guerrero claims to have kept the trauma to herself for the next 20 years, telling no one about the miscarriage and finishing her job for the night before leaving for the airport.

“I don’t blame anyone for this,” Guerrero told People. She was ultimately fired from MNF following the conclusion of the 2003-2004 season.

‘The miscarriage was not because of Freddie, and it was not because of a radio host or a bad column. It was the culmination of the entire season of negativity and cruelty. It was really cruel.

Guerrero added that he wants people to know that constant bullying and trolling affects people in all sorts of ways on a daily basis.
