He explained how that time of the morning is a “cluster” in the kitchens due to a whole host of issues around ingredients, staff and customer demand.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 19,000 times to date, Mike can be seen sitting in his car speaking directly into the camera to address a user comment that reads, “Why is 10:30 the worst time to go to McDonald’s? ‘

He begins, “I am a former McDonald’s chef and here is your answer.

‘Having breakfast all day is really no longer an option and at 10.30 am the restaurant switches from breakfast to lunch.’

Mike, who worked at McDonald’s for four years, continues: ‘There are now a lot of people who want breakfast later than 10:30 and there are a lot of people who want lunch earlier than 10:30.

“The problem is that all the equipment is the same and things are often switched from the breakfast menu to the lunch menu.”

The expert elaborates on the following: ‘That means that the fryers no longer fry hash browns, but French fries.

‘The grills have a different time and temperature.

“In the universal storage cabinet – which holds a larger volume of cooked food and is used to serve customers extra quickly so they can pull it out – all breakfast ingredients and items should be removed and all lunch items added.”

Mike also adds, “The crew changes – sometimes more people come in or leave at that time.

“So all these moving parts are happening while also getting busier in the restaurant, while also switching up a whole menu while trying to run out of all the breakfast items and add all the lunch items — and it’s causing a lot of problems within the restaurants.”

He concludes, “So that’s why 10:30 is the worst, because it’s a cluster in the restaurants transitioning from breakfast to lunch.”

Other social media users were quick to rave about this insight, as some called for the all-day breakfast to be brought back.

One wrote: “Yes, when I was a kitchen manager, changing menus was the worst.

‘Having to time everything to temper food safety, and having breakfast at the same time.’

Another added: “Well said, I couldn’t have put it better.”

And a third simply confirmed, “10:30 a.m. is so hectic.”

McDonald’s discontinued all-day breakfast in 2020, citing that the decision was made “to simplify operations in our kitchens, which we believe delivered better service speed and order accuracy for our customers.”

Mike previously delighted his 190,000 followers by sharing the clever “Quarter Pounder Hack” that he claimed would help you figure out if your local chain is any good.
