Former Man United star Wout Weghorst ‘set for Ajax medical TODAY as Dutch club reach agreement with Burnley for the striker’

Former Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst is reportedly set to return to the Netherlands to play for Ajax.
Weghorst, 32, currently plays for Championship club Burnley, but has made just 22 appearances for the club since joining Turf Moor in January 2022.
And after two brief appearances as a substitute this season, he will leave the club to join Ajax. His medical will take place later today, according to The Telegraph.
According to the Dutch media outlet, Ajax and Burnley reached a full agreement on Tuesday evening over a transfer fee believed to be significantly lower than €5 million (£4.2 million).
Weghorst has been loaned out three times since moving to England two and a half years ago.
Wout Weghorst will leave Burnley to join Ajax. His medical is scheduled for later today.

One of those was at United, where the striker spent the second half of the 2022-23 season at Old Trafford.
Weghorst played 31 games under Erik ten Hag, scoring just twice during that time. But he did help the Red Devils to silverware, starting the 2-0 win over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final in February 2023.
After Weghorst also played on loan at Besiktas and Hoffenheim in addition to his time at United, it seems that he will definitely go to Ajax.
On the prospect of moving back to his native country, Weghorst recently told Kicker: ‘For me, the whole picture has to be right. We are having our fourth child and we have traveled a lot as a family in recent years.
‘Ajax is the biggest club in the Netherlands, I don’t need to say anything more about it.’
Ajax were already missing Feyenoord duo Calvin Stengs and Justin Bijlow this summer, but are now on the verge of signing Weghorst. He scored the winning goal for the Netherlands in the opening match of the 2024 European Championship against Poland, before Ronald Koeman’s men reached the semi-finals.
Weghorst’s arrival could mean the end for Chuba Akpom at Ajax, just a year after he moved to the club from Middlesbrough.
The Englishman scored 11 goals in 25 league games last season but may have to look for a new club in the coming days, with Weghorst expected to overtake him in the pecking order.
