Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane, 32, reveals how many children he wants to have, a year on from marrying his wife when she was just 18

Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane has revealed how many children he would like to have with his wife Aisha Tamba.

Mane, who plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, married Tamba in an Islamic ceremony on January 7, 2024 in Keur Massar, a suburb of the capital Dakar.

Aisha was 18 years old when the wedding took place, having met the Senegalese international two years earlier through family connections.

Much has been made of the age difference between the couple, as Mane was 31 years old when they tied the knot with Tamba.

However, Tamba’s parents only supported the union, calling Mane a “good person” who comes from a “humble family.”

A year after their wedding, Mane has revealed that he would like to have three or four children with his wife.

Speak with SenepeopleplusMane said, “Funny question. If it’s just a choice, I’d say 3 or 4. Except it’s God who decides and I’ll thank Him either way.”

When asked if he would be open to having more children — especially seven or eight — Mane laughed before saying, “You might never know.”

The 32-year-old star added: “Whatever the song is, I will accept it. I’m leaning more towards 3 or 4 and we’ll see the rest.’

It is believed that Mane first met Tamba when she was 16 years old, with her father revealing that the star first saw her ‘more than two years’ before the wedding.

Tamba’s father said: ‘My wife and Aisha visited their (Mane’s) family one day, and here he met her for the first time.

‘He [Mane] he probably saw something special in her and his parents also appreciated her. They came to see me.

We discussed according to tradition, agreed on everything and waited for this day to happen. They didn’t have a relationship because Aisha was still young.’

Her father did not give an exact date when he first spoke to Aisha about marrying Mane, but said he never doubted that she would not accept it.

According to reports, the marriage was arranged while she was still in school, with the decision made to wait until she was 18 so that she could complete her studies.

Mane allegedly financed Aisha’s education at the Cabis girls’ school in Mbao, a town on the outskirts of Dakar.

Aisha reportedly completed her degree with a fair distinction, with Mane and her father congratulating her on her success.

Senenews reported that Aisha is now considering entering higher education after completing her baccalaureate degree.

Mane and his new wife are both originally from the Casmance region of Senegal, in the south of the country and about 430 kilometers from Dakar.

The pair belong to the same ethnic group in Sosse, speak the same native language and share the same values.
