A former Leeds United player has had his contract terminated for a bizarre reason, just a month after signing for his new club.

Kristoffer Klaesson, who was the Whites’ goalkeeper for three years, was spotted at a local McDonald’s, which could lead to the player becoming a free agent in the near future, reports PSN Football.

The 23-year-old signed for Rakow Czestochowa in July for a transfer fee reported to be €1.8million (£1.5million).

However, just a month after his transfer, the club are concerned about his physical condition and may terminate his contract after he was spotted at the local branch of the global fast food chain.

Yet, surprisingly, this would not be the first time the player has been in the news for his actions off the field.

That comes after the 23-year-old was spotted at a local McDonald’s shortly after joining the club.

In April 2024, the goalkeeper crashed his BMW in Norway and was rushed to hospital.

His former club, Leeds United, later confirmed reports that he was the driver that night. Yorkshire Evening Post.

Klaesson was not a regular for the Whites and only played four games for the first team.

Yet he was a regular in the youth teams of both the Yorkshire club and his country, Norway, making no fewer than 20 appearances for the Under-21s.

After leaving Leeds, the youngster revealed he would have to take a significant pay cut to complete his move to Rakow Czestochowa.

“I don’t really want to comment on the salary. It’s a step back, but I can develop more in everyday life as a goalkeeper,” Klaesson told the Norwegian outlet VG.

‘Rakow wants to win titles and I think I can help them do that.’

Of his choice of destination, he said: ‘It’s a somewhat unorthodox choice.

The Norwegian was not a regular starter for Leeds and made only four appearances for the first team in three years.

“They have an extremely good goalkeeper coach. They are known for developing good goalkeepers in Poland.

‘The ability to develop and sell goalkeepers was one of the reasons why Rakow was chosen.’
