Former Jill Biden adviser says campaign is ‘gaslighting’ Americans with polls aimed at keeping president in race

Michael LaRosa, a former spokesman for Jill Biden, called Bidenworld “gaslighting” the American public by saying data indicated the 2024 race had not changed after the 81-year-old’s disastrous debate.

LaRosa first made the claim in a tweet on Sunday, after former White House communications director Kate Bedingfield said on CNN’s State of the Union program that “the race has not fundamentally changed” after the debate.

Bedingfield cited “data” that had emerged since Thursday’s debate in Atlanta that reportedly showed Americans are not “suddenly moving toward Trump” and found the former Republican president “unpersuasive.”

The main headline of the debate, however, was President Joe Biden’s confused and at times incoherent answers.

“The data!? If there is data that contradicts the impact of what we’ve all seen, WHERE THE HELL IS IT???” LaRosa begged in a post on X Sunday. “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? SHOW US!”

In an X-post on Sunday and then during an interview with Fox & Friends on Monday morning, the former East Wing spokesman asked to see “The data?! ” that reportedly showed the race remained virtually unchanged after Biden’s tough debate

“Jesus Christ with the gaslighting, the talking points, and the fucking spin. Enough now. Show your supporters or the media this data so we can help you help him!” the former White House aide continued.

LaRosa pointed out that Biden’s advisers spent “A YEAR” claiming polling data was unreliable.

“Nobody is paying attention
and all the polls and data are unreliable,” the former aide continued.

Biden is trailing former President Donald Trump in many key polls.

“Are we supposed to believe this NOW?” he asked, referring to the “data” that allegedly showed Biden untainted from the debate. “You’ve been undermining all public data and polls and attacking news organizations and their independent data for a year!”

“Is it safe to trust the data now?” he wondered.

“Are we supposed to believe your data instead of independent media data and polls???” he asked. “Okay, cool. WHERE THE HELL IS IT?”

LaRosa appeared on Fox & Friends Monday morning and continued to push for access to the numbers Biden’s surrogates were promoting.

Co-host Steve Doocy pointed out that all Americans watched Thursday night’s debate and described Biden’s performance as “terrible.”

“Yeah, that’s the problem ultimately. Look, we live in a visual world. It’s hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube,” LaRosa acknowledged.

He also pointed out that Biden’s team “got everything they wanted in terms of parameters in this debate.”

“And so much depended on that first impression,” he added. “He’s probably not going to have another audience like that. And even the convention isn’t going to give them what they need.”

LaRosa, who served as First Lady Jill Biden’s campaign spokesperson in 2020 and then served in the same role in the White House until 2022, pushed back against the narrative that Dr. Biden is the main person pressuring her husband to stay in the race.

He pointed out that Joe and Jill “don’t live in each other’s shadows.”

“And if he didn’t want to be president, if he didn’t want to run again, she would be the first one in her car driving to the beach and she would have no reason to ever come back to Washington, D.C.,” LaRosa said. “She doesn’t care about politics.”
