Liam Rosenior is in advanced negotiations to become head coach at Chelsea sister club Strasbourg.

The French club, which is part of the ownership group BlueCo, is without a coach after Patrick Vieira stepped down after just one season as manager.

And now they turn their attention to Rosenior, who has been unemployed since leaving Hull City in May.

Despite finishing seventh in the championship with the Yorkshire side, the 39-year-old was sacked by the Tigers three days after the end of the season.

Rosenior was nominated for the 2023-24 Championship Manager of the Season award, but finished third behind Leeds United manager Daniel Farke and winner Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town.

Before becoming a coach, Rosenior played for 16 years as a defender for clubs including Bristol City, Fulham, Hull and Brighton and Hove Albion.

In 2018, while on the south coast, he decided to take a step back from football and went straight into coaching Brighton’s youth academy.

In 2019, Rosenior joined the coaching staff at Derby County, before rising to the interim managerial role in June 2022.

His time in that position was short-lived, as he left in September of that same year. Just two months later, he was appointed head coach by Hull, on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

He left two months ago after Hull were just three points off a play-off spot in the Second Division.

Strasbourg finished 13th in Ligue 1 during Vieira’s sole season in charge, but two months later he left Chelsea in a similar fashion to Mauricio Pochettino.

The French club was acquired by BlueCo last year and has now joined Chelsea in the new multi-club ownership model.
