The former chairman of the Florida state Republican Party and husband of Moms of Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler will not face criminal charges for his role in a threesome sex scandal.
In October, Christian Zeigler was accused of raping a woman he and his wife were in a three-way relationship and recording the encounter.
While under investigation for sexual assault, Zeigler was forced to resign from his role as chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. The scandal also brought Bridget under scrutiny as she faced constant public criticism during meetings of the Sarasota County School Board, where she serves on the board.
Sarasota police dropped charges against him and prosecutors declined to charge him with video voyeurism for recording the sexual encounter, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
“The victim’s inability to recall whether she consented to record the sexual activity, along with her inconsistencies regarding key details of the event, prevents the State from proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the video in question was filmed without her knowledge or consent,” according to a memo from the prosecutor’s office.

Christian Ziegler faced allegations from a woman who said he raped her after she canceled plans to have sex with him and Bridget.
His attorney, Derek Byrd, told the Associated Press: “Mr. Ziegler is relieved that he has been fully exonerated of the false accusations and any criminal wrongdoing.”
“We cooperated at every stage of the investigation and, as difficult as it was, out of respect for the investigation we remained silent.”
During the initial investigation, Ziegler provided the video to police, who used it to determine that the sexual encounter was likely consensual, prosecutors said.
However, because it is a crime in Florida to film a sexual encounter without the knowledge and consent of the other participants, the case was referred to the state attorney general’s office.
“The victim acknowledged that it was possible that she had consented to one being taken,” the memo said.
“Inconsistencies in the victim’s story appear to be the result of substantial intoxication and trauma experienced by the victim.”
The police investigation revealed that Ziegler had told his wife to look for a threesome partner and that he had a list of several women’s names on his phone titled “THE LIST,” including his rape accuser under the subtitle “F*** .’
Documents show Ziegler and his wife, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, discussing the woman who accused him of rape in text messages while Bridget expressed concern for her well-being.
Text messages from February 2021 show Ziegler telling his wife to “come home, stop and pick up (a woman) to play and be silly again.”

But Bridget replied that she was concerned the woman was ‘going through some s***’ and ‘that she prefers confident, powerful people’.

She refused to step down from her role on school board after facing hours of public criticism of the relationship.
Bridget has been accused of hypocrisy for engaging in bisexual acts during a threesome with another woman and her husband, while also being an outspoken leader of anti-LGBTQ policies.
“It turns out you are a hypocrite of the worst order,” John Smeallie, a retired deputy superintendent of schools in Maryland, said at a meeting in January. “Despite your attacks on the LGTBQ-plus community, it appears you are part of it. Definitely a B, maybe a plus.’
“Why don’t you want to resign?” someone else asked at the meeting.

For nearly three hours at the January meeting, Bridget faced dozens of calls to resign and at one point began sobbing.
“We are now famous, or infamous, as the case may be, because of the antics of you and your husband,” said one irate resident at the meeting.
One resident read the lyrics to Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl hit on the board.
Sarasota residents also brought signs to the rally with messages such as “Sarasota children deserve better” and “Ziegler must go!”
In February, Bridget Zeigler broke her silence and spoke about the scandal at a school board meeting. She said: “I really believe that specifically sexual orientation and whatever has no place in the comments above. Personal lives, families, all of it.”
“But I also accept the fact that as elected officials we expose ourselves to incredible criticism, but as an individual I absolutely reject that.

“I don’t want anyone to be afraid, I don’t want anyone in our district to feel that we provide anything other than a fair, safe and tolerant environment where everyone can learn, and that doesn’t just mean learning. and work.
“As you can hear, there are a lot of people who don’t think this is the case.”
