Former ‘fixer’ Michael Cohen reveals he will leave the country if Trump wins the presidential election
Former Donald Trump fixer Michael Cohen says he is making contingency plans to obtain citizenship in another country in case his former boss returns to the White House.
Cohen has become an arch-enemy of Trump and was a key witness who testified against him during the Stormy Daniels trial, which resulted in a conviction on 34 charges.
He told MSNBC that his former boss is “the worst version of himself you could possibly imagine.”
He said Trump “was always bad” but that he has “surrounded himself against the worst imaginable” and has now reached “a new low.”
If Trump wins, “I’m out of here,” Cohen said Tuesday, speaking at a time when Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are virtually tied in the polls.
He said he was ‘already working on a foreign passport with a completely different name.’
“I have no choice,” he said said Nicole Wallace in an interview.
Former Donald Trump Fixer said he is working on getting a foreign passport under a different name, and will leave the country if Donald Trump is re-elected.
“I don’t know how it’s going to work in terms of dealing with my wife and my children. I certainly don’t want them to move where I want to go. And I don’t think … you saw the president of MSNBC, General (Mark) Milley, (former Rep.) Liz Cheney, how many people he turned around and said ‘these are people I intend to get if I have the opportunity,'” he added.
He also referenced the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity, calling it a “get-out-of-jail-free card for the president alone.”
Cohen, who served as Trump’s lawyer for years but has now become a prominent critic through his podcast and social media posts, also lashed out at the people he says Trump has gathered around him.
He named several Trump associates as well as “shady Vance,” a reference to Senator JD Vance.
“The whole group. They’re a whole group of racists and sexists. We know their misogynists and homophobes and Islamophobia and transphobia, they’re anti-Semitic. What else could you be?” he said.
“And maybe one of them isn’t all of them, but they all have Donald’s ear. We used to say in the Trump organization, ‘The one who has the last ear controls the brain.’ And so he makes these ridiculous comments and these absolutely stupid, stupid comments.”
Trump railed against Cohen during Stormy Daniels trial
Trump has made a series of statements promising revenge against opponents and has recently threatened to go after people who “cheat” in the election, naming a wide range of potential targets.
“IF I WIN, those who CHEAT will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, resulting in lengthy prison sentences,” Trump posted on his Truth Social site. “Be aware that this legal exposure extends to attorneys, political operatives, donors, illegal voters, and corrupt election officials.”
“Well, revenge takes time. I will say that,” Trump told Dr. Phil McGraw in a June interview. “And sometimes revenge can be justified, Phil, I have to be honest with you. You know, sometimes it can be.”
It’s unclear how Cohen’s conviction (he served a three-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to tax and campaign finance violations) will affect his efforts to obtain a foreign passport.
