Shobna Gulati looked completely unrecognizable as she showed off her long gray locks and posed for a stunning Instagram selfie.
The 58-year-old former Coronation Stress actress, who played Sunita Alahan, revealed in her latest social media post that she is embracing her age.
Shobna excitedly shared that she is ‘so happy’ with her new look, after some fans told her to ‘dye it back’ to brown.
She said she now feels “more comfortable” since growing her long locks gray after years of dyeing her hair brown.
The soap star wrote: ‘Wiser? Definitely older! And very silver – turning grey.’

‘So many people said I should dye it back to the dark brown hair I had, ‘I look old, why do I succumb to the idea of an old lady, it’s not attractive, etc. etc.’
‘But times are changing, and I’m so happy with what happened and I feel so comfortable now.
‘I don’t know, but I think my head feels better without the bi-weekly root dye… and that’s a positive, no harsh chemicals, no color protectant shampoo, just like when I was younger… but anyway, I thought I’d share.’
Although Shobna said fans were negative about her new haircut, many responded to the comments on her latest post, saying she looked “gorgeous” and that they “wished they had the courage to do it too.”

In 2021, Shobna spoke with Platinum Magazine about her age and how she looks older. She explains: ‘I don’t want to look a certain way, or what people think I should look like.
“I think having gray hair is a huge boost. When people say to me, ‘You don’t look your age,’ I can say, ‘Well, I do.'”

She continued: ‘We live in a society that is obsessed with youth, but the good news is that during lockdown I’ve been watching a lot of European thrillers and dramas and it seems that being a woman, being of a certain age and having experience is reflected on screen.
‘It doesn’t matter what you look like. Faces move and gray hair is there. I’ve allowed myself both.’
The actress played Sunita Alahan in Corrie between 2001 and 2006 and returned to the popular role between 2009 and 2013.
In 2019, she took on the role of Ray in the West End production of Everybody’s Taking About Jamie and reprised the role for the film adaptation.
Shobna reprised her role in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie for the 2023-2024 UK and Ireland tour.
