Christy Carlson Romano has revealed how she ditched Hollywood in favor of Texas in the hope of giving her children a ‘slower’ lifestyle.

The Even Stevens star, 40, and husband Brendan Rooney moved to Austin, Texas, in 2020, with the former Disney Channel actress now opening up about why moving was one of the best decisions for her family.

The mother-of-two – who previously campaigned for better working conditions for child actors – currently runs two podcasts and a podcast company with her husband, while also caring for daughters Isabella, seven, and Sofia, five.

Now, Christy has opened up about why her move from the Hollywood Hills felt “just right,” because Texas is much “slower” than California.

Christy sat down People to discuss how she found happiness after settling in Austin.

She revealed that the move felt “just right” in 2020 before confessing that she “loves” her kids being out of Hollywood.

“I love that the girls can come from the Hollywood area a little bit,” she told the outlet.

And while the actress – who also voiced Kim Possible – enjoyed her time in California, she revealed she’s glad she’s settled in Texas.

“I love California, we have our PodCo offices there. And I really feel at home in Austin. “I have a really strong community of friends there and I really found a way to put down roots,” she added.

The actress noted that she loves that Austin is “slower” than California and noted that it has everything she needs.

“I’m really glad we live there,” she said.

Meanwhile, Christy revealed that her two daughters have become accustomed to fans approaching her and often thinking they are her friends.

She noted that parenthood is “scary” and comes with “charged” questions.

Christy added, “How am I going to be a parent? How am I going to pay for that? Will I have more than one, or one at all?

‘I have several children and I work, so I always want to make sure they have a very balanced life.’
