Former boxing champion Besar Nimani has died aged 38 after being shot as he left a restaurant in Germany.
According to national media outlet Bild, witnesses claim Nimani was outside a cafe on Saturday evening when ten shots were fired. He died on the spot.
Police have launched an investigation after the former champion was murdered, with the perpetrators still on the run.
He won 26 of his 27 professional bouts in the ring from 2011 to 2019 and once held the IBF European Super Welterweight title.
Nimani was born in Kosovska Mitrovica, but gained German citizenship after taking up his passion for boxing in Bielefeld with SV Brackwede in 1998.

The German outlet also reports how Nimani was previously involved in an altercation that left five people injured after a shooting.
In August 2013, Nimani – along with his brother Berat and a friend – got into an argument in a Turkish restaurant near Bielefeld station.
The outlet claims Berat hit someone in the head with a Coke bottle, but a gun was pulled and fired.
Five people were injured as a result of the incident, including Nimani.
On that occasion, the perpetrator was given an 18-month prison sentence for violating weapons laws.
