Forgotten Premier League striker Clinton Njie was unveiled as the new signing of Romanian club Rapid Bucharest in a bizarre video that also featured former US President Bill Clinton.
Njie spent a season in North London with Tottenham after joining the club from Lyon for over £8million in 2015. Unfortunately for all involved, his time in the capital was a failure.
The striker made just eight Premier League appearances for the club, all as a substitute, failing to score in any of them.
The 31-year-old Cameroon international was without a club before signing for Rapid, who finished sixth in Romania’s top 16-team league last season.
Perhaps in an attempt to capitalise on the interest in the US elections in November, the organisation opted to give a rather odd political slant to their announcement of the striker.
The club posted a video on social media that began with a clip of former US President Bill Clinton giving an impassioned speech. The footage then cuts to Njie, who for some reason says, “I am the real Clinton.”

Rapid fans are then treated to a montage of the striker scoring for some of his former clubs, including Marseille.
Njie told Rapid’s website: ‘I am happy to be here. It is a pleasure to join one of the biggest clubs in Romania.
“I saw how much the club wanted me to come here, and it was easy for me to make a decision. I am excited to join Rapid.
Despite his unhappy spell at Tottenham Hotspur, Njie still managed to earn 44 caps for his national team and helped win the Africa Cup of Nations in 2017.
