A former Premier League striker shared a series of photos of himself and his son alongside Cristiano Ronaldo after a recent trip to Saudi Arabia.

The Al-Nassr captain assisted his side’s opening goal as they handed Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal their first defeat of the season on Friday.

Otavio’s opener after just one minute at Al-Awwal Stadium marked Ronaldo’s 54th goal in all competitions this season.

Before the match, Ronaldo met with former Chelsea star Adrian Mutu and posed for a photo with the controversial striker and his young son Tiago.

Ronaldo signed an Al-Nassr shirt for the youngster, and Mutu then shared a selfie of himself with Al-Shabab midfielder Ivan Rakitic on his Instagram Story.

‘While visiting Saudi Arabia today we went to @alnassr.’ Mutu wrote.

“When my son @tiagomutu turned 7, I promised him if he is a good boy, I would take him to meet the world superstar legend @cristiano, today the dream came true.

“Thank you my friend for your kindness. Tonight we will also see the match together, the derby, against @alhilal.’

Mutu was once considered one of the brightest young talents in Europe. He played in Serie A with Parma before arriving at Stamford Bridge shortly after Roman Abramovic took over the west London club.

The four-time Romanian Footballer of the Year scored six goals from 25 Premier League appearances during his first term at Chelsea before his career at the club was cut short the following season when he was sacked after failing a drugs test for cocaine.

After being handed an eight-month football ban by the FA, Mutu raised further eyebrows in his explanation for the failed test.

‘The only reason I took what I took was because I wanted to improve my sexual performance.’ He said.

‘It may be funny, but it’s true. I didn’t use cocaine. I took something that made me feel good.”

An unsuccessful move to Juventus followed, but the Romanian returned to his best shortly afterwards with Fiorentina, scoring 70 times in 143 appearances for the Viola.

A brief spell with Cesena was followed by spells in France, India and his native Romania before Mutu threw in the towel in 2016 at the age of 37 as his country’s joint-record scorer at international level.
