Forget projectors: TCL’s 115-inch mini LED TV has 6.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos speakers and 5,000 nits brightness

TCL has launched its entire mini LED TV range in the US, with the range led by the QM89, a 115-inch model. The huge new model brings the QM8 and QM7 series TVs, available in screen sizes from 55 to 98 inches.

The best TVs are getting new ultra-large screens, with 98 inches now a standard screen size for most QLED and mini-LED TV manufacturers. This makes them a viable alternative to the best 4K projectors, which have more complicated installation requirements and limited brightness compared to TVs.

With a screen as large as that of a typical home theater projector setup, the 115-inch QM89 delivers peak brightness up to 5,000 nits and has 20,000 local dimming zones. The company’s new AiPQ Ultra processor offers more than 65,000 levels of granular control over the TV’s local dimming and is paired with Ultra-Wide-Angle Lens technology for uniform light distribution and Optical Distance Reduction technology that eliminates backlight blooming. virtually eliminates it, according to TCL.

With a built-in Onkyo 6.2.2-channel speaker system, the QM89 has impressive audio specs to match its ultra-clear 115-inch image. TCL’s flagship TV also features an anti-glare screen, an ATSC 3.0 next-gen TV tuner and custom installation features that allow it to integrate with advanced home control systems.

The TCL QM89 will be available “soon” for $26,999.99.
