Forget buying a gaming laptop: fix your Steam Deck FOMO with this limited-time 15% discount instead

Two years ago, the Steam Deck was released and it spawned a flood of other PC gaming handhelds. Yet it’s still one of the most popular and affordable portable gaming devices you can buy, and Valve is taking the value proposition a step further by dropping the price by 15% on two models.

There’s a reason for this sale, though, and it’s that the Steam Deck LCD models in question – the 64GB and 512GB variants – are being phased out, and the deals will only last while supplies last (which won’t be much longer to last).

For the 64GB LCD model, Valve has reduced the price from $349 to $296.65 in the US (from £309 to £262.65 in the UK), and for the 512GB LCD model the price has been reduced from $449 to $381 .65 (from £389 to £330.65 in the UK).

The promotion does not apply to Steam Deck OLED models and runs until July 11 (or until supplies run out as stated). It will undoubtedly be a tempting deal for those who have been putting off buying a Steak Deck and aren’t concerned about the OLED screen.

From your bed to the beach

The Steam Deck is a favorite in the world of portable gaming for a number of reasons. Valve’s handheld is nicely built and thought out, offering a system of rating games for compatibility with the Steam Deck, so you can easily discover which PC games play well on the device.

Another major selling point is the portability of the device, as the Steam Deck is lighter and more compact than alternatives like the Asus ROG Ally. Furthermore, the Steam Deck has its own operating system – SteamOS – while other competing handhelds run Windows 11 and are therefore slower and clunkier in many ways.

In short, this seems like a good time to explore the world of portable gaming PCs and save a ton of money at the same time. We wouldn’t keep waiting if you want to take advantage of this offer, as we’re betting it won’t run until the stated cut-off date – the shares will likely disappear quite quickly.

It’s also worth thinking carefully about the 64GB model. Keep in mind that in addition to being a smaller drive, this is also an eMMC model, meaning it’s not as fast as the SSDs in the other Steam Deck variants. Yet it is now very cheap, we cannot deny that.
