Ford recalls thousands of best-selling pickup trucks due to major malfunction

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a recall of more than 144,500 Ford Maverick pickup trucks because their rearview cameras are not working properly.

On Thursday, the American car company recalled 144,516 Ford Maverick cars from the model years 2022-2024 with Connected Touch Radio (CTR), because “the rear view camera may become blocked when the vehicle is in reverse.” NHTSA reported this.

The defective camera could “increase the risk of an accident” because it could “give an incorrect impression of where the vehicle is in relation to its surroundings,” the report said.

The Ford Maverick is one of the best-selling cars on the market, according to experts. Capital One Autonavigator.

“The compact truck will be offered with a fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain. It also seats five and can haul up to 1,500 pounds of cargo in its rear bed, with a price starting around $25,500,” the outlet reported in June.

According to the NHTSA, the car’s parking lamps do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, “Lamps, Reflectors and Related Equipment.”

In May, the company recalled nearly 243,000 Maverick small pickup trucks in the U.S. because their taillights were not illuminating.

A faulty computer module caused the taillights to remain dark while driving.

This makes it more difficult for other motorists driving behind them to see the trucks, increasing the risk of an accident.

Documents on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website say dealers would update the software to fix the problem, at no cost to owners.

According to the report, the defect “could affect the ability of other drivers to see at night, increasing the risk of a collision.”
