Ford is recalling 300 cars built this year due to potentially fatal safety system manufacturing defects

More than 300 Ford Pumas have been recalled due to possible defects in seat belts and airbags that could cause serious injury or death in a crash.

The recall affects 307 Ford Pumas built this year.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the car’s safety system, known as the Restraint Control Module (RCM), was installed with an incorrect configuration.

“As a result, if an incorrect replacement part is installed in the system, warnings will not be displayed and the seat belt pretensioners and air bags may not function as intended in the event of an accident,” the recall states.

‘In the event of an accident, failure to deploy an airbag or correctly deploy the seat belt pretensioner can increase the risk of injury or death to the vehicle occupants.’

Ford will contact those affected by the recall in writing.

Owners of the model are instructed to contact their local Ford dealer to have the RCM replaced free of charge.
